[updates] Server upgrade coming up :)

March 9th 2009 at 9am EST Vadis will point all of our sites, game and all to a new better server.

This has to be done prior to the release of V1.1 soon after, to be sure the new awesome server runs smoothly with the system and all.

The impact on you is that all of our services, including sylien.com and this forum will be down for a while. No games will be stopped, nothing will be reset.

How long you ask? Well, technically it will take only about an hour for us to do this, perhaps a couple more if we encounter problems running the system on the new server (unlikely event but you never know).

HOWEVER, since the DNS will change (its like an internet address for the server) it may take up to 48 hours before your Internet Provider can lock into the new address. Its not something we can accelerate.

Be ready to be amazed and relieved soon after however.

if you provide the new IP we can add to our hosts file until DNS propogation is complete.

not sure if I want to do that or know for sure the DNS works perfectly everywhere.

Couldn't help but notice that it's now an hour past the time the site was supposed to go down, but it's still up. Has the upgrade been pushed back, or did Vadis forget to set his clocks ahead yesterday morning?
